My 30 Years of Howard Stern 9/23/12

Greetings fellow Stern fans,

Today (9/23) marks my 30th anniversary of having Howard Stern and crew in my life!!

I wrote last year about being introduced to Howard on WNBC by my Rabbi at the ripe age of 12… Growing up in The Bronx and being the minority amongst the other kids in my neighborhood.

Looking forward to such bits as “Guess Who’s the Jew” or “The Hillel Street Jews” could put a smile on my young, bullied face like no other.

I got to know the KOAM through the Channel 9 show, the E! shows and now Howard TV plus being lucky enough to be with the group that was first on line to get awesome seats at the premiere of Private Parts!!!

The show has had it’s ups and downs with Billy and then Jackie taking off, and Artie Lange becoming a long-time fixture, moving the show into a different era without snappy one-liners and clapping, but with hilariously funny and frank discussions.

Growing up on the show in my twenties and thirties, I was introduced to many Wack Packers — my favorites being Crazy (Angry) Alice, Crackhead Bob (the reason for me getting third-row seats at the PP premiere), and Hank The Angry Drunken Dwarf (who passed waaaaay too young)… Not to mention all the characters created by the staff, such as The Gary & Jackie Puppets, Kurt Waldheim Jr. and The OJ Mask (really man).

Howard’s uncanny ability to conduct and control an interview is best in the industry. That along with the multitude of on-air music performances, helped shape me musically to what I am today…

These days, I actually get to meet and greet the Wack Pack personally as many of them are part of our awesome Facebook community called Stern Facebook Superfans. I also get the privilege of being able to frequently write on this up & coming blog and being a regular participant on the Super Fan Roundtable.

The above picture, created from the mind of the too-talented-for-words Doctor Ivan, captures many of the faces that represent the last thirty years in the Stern world. You can see all of Doc’s amazing work at his Twitter feed and picture page. He told me the picture has over 70 layers to it, so please keep checking it out… I’ve had it for over a month and keep finding new stuff in it!!

Thanks to everyone in my Stern world for making these last 30 years awesome!!

Yours in Service,

Scotty “K”
