Artie At The Borgota Review

The Aniti-Social Comedy Tour review by Superfan Becca

HEYYYYYY NOOOOWWWWW! I am so thrilled, like all fellow fans, to see Artie back, and hopefully still on the road to recovery. It was obvious Artie was nervous, and admittedly he was out of his element, making jokes about his “incident” and the uncomfortable concept of hanging out in AC, where there’s an overabundance of vices he’s NOT allowed to enjoy anymore. There were some great laughs with that one. He was still as quick as ever with comebacks with the crowd, and when asked in a Q and A at the end of the show if he’d ever return to Howard, Artie replied with his signature grufff chuckle, “I think I’ve pretty much freaked them out there.” (not true Artie, we’d LOVE to have you back!!!)

Of course, as an Eagle fan, I certainly didn’t appreciate the majority of his set making fun of Eagles fans, so perhaps I am biased!  He proudly wore a triple X Giants tee-shirt underneath his jacket, and after that amazing game yesterday, I can only join Artie and all other Giants fans in saying “Go Big Blue!”

Some of the material wasn’t brand new; he repeated a joke he told on Joy Behar, and of course I was a bit let down as I was starving for new Artie material!

All that being said, he did a good job, there were a lot of laughs. I think as a die hard fan, it was a bit painful to hear jokes about rehab, and about how hard staying sober clearly is for Artie. I adore that baby gorilla, and know that once he gets a little less rusty (not to be confused with Richard’s “Rusty”) he will be back on his game.

As for the rest of the show, Florentine opening up was like getting an extra gift on Christmas morning! I only wished Fred was there to cue both of Robin’s themes as he walked on the stage. He rocked the place, and killed. My favorite part of his act was his response to a heckler asking “How were Robin’s tits???” Florentines response? “They were BLACK!!”

Jim Norton continued the hilarity, with disturbingly hilarious oral sex jokes, which everybody loves of course!

Poor Doug Stanhope was the “bar and bathroom breal” comic; many of us had to run out in order to be able to be back in time for our beloved baby gorilla.

Overall, it was a phenomenal show and was incredible to see Artie back doing his thing. He was still able to bring the laughs, and this ever-adoring fan has no doubt he will be 100% on his game in no time at all. The feeling of love for that guy saturated the room the entire night.

As fans, we just need to keep supporting his endeavors! There’s nothing like a Howard-related event; we are clearly the most loyal and friendly group of fans around. We met up with old friends, met a ton of new ones, and can’t wait for the next!! All that being said, We LOVE YOU ARTIE…WELCOME BACK…. And…. A BAAAABAAABOOEY TO YA’LL!
