When did you start listening to the king?

When did you start listening to the king?? I started my listening in 1982 when Howard just started on WNBC in NYC. I was in Junior High school then and when all the kids would be running to play football or baseball I would run home to listen to Howard, he was on the air from 3-7pm. I was addicted from day one and have been ever since…..

I first heard about Howard when he was in Washington DC. I lived in Baltimore and he was making news in media circles with what he was doing at DC101. I caught a little of his show from time to time but it was difficult because the signal wasn’t great. In 1991, Howard finally came to Baltimore in WJFK-AM and that’s when I began listening regularly. I live in Tennessee now so I’m grate for Sirius/XM.

I started listening in 1991. Mark & Brian (or as Howard used to call them Bark & Moron or Marge & Brianna) were the top morning show in L.A at the time (gag)
Howard became #1 in less than a year.. Howard threw the “Mark & Brian funeral in November 1992 at the Hollywood Palace (now Avalon)..It was sheer insanity there and I loved every minute of it! Long Live The King Of All Media!

I’ve been listening to Howard since the day he started at K-rock. It’s been a long time.

  5. I started listening at the same time, Early 80′s. I was in middle school and one of my teachers put me onto this new radio guy on WNBC and like you I was hooked. Been a huge fan ever since…….

Joe, what a great story, and what a great testament to the public school system. But I digress… It was the fall of 85, and Howard had just arrived at K-Rock in the afternoon. I didn’t even know who he was. Thanks to my ADD personality, I flipped the dial constantly. Between Madonna songs, I would flip to K-Rock. My earliest memory is of Jackie telling jokes about “Mrs. Flemstein.” I would think, ‘this is disgusting,’ but like everyone else, I couldn’t turn away, and the rest is history. Howard hit the ground running. Pretty soon he was on in the morning, then syndicated in Philly. By Spring ’86 he was doing the funeral for DeBella. Debra was born that May. I even sat next to the whole Stern gang one night at the Bean Stalk restaurant (which was in the basement of the Sirius building). Aren’t you glad you asked, Joe. :)

Since 1989. I was searching for a Spanish Radio Station here in NYC, when I heard somebody(Howard ) yelling to another person(Gary ) that made me laugh. I’ve been a lister since then. Long live the King. The Show means so much to me.
